Activities in Overseas

MOL Group proactively undertake local activities. In this section, we introduce several examples of this kind of activities.

The Philippines

Construction of Daycare Center

We donated some of the funds for constructing a daycare center (a multipurpose facility that will provide education for pre-school children, health checkups and meals for underprivileged people, and so on) to the Philippines international NGO Habitat for Humanity Philippines. Furthermore, MOL Filipino seafarers, their families and land-based staff of the MOL Group seafarer manning company Magsaysay MOL Marine, Inc. (MMM) are volunteering their time to help with construction work.

U.K

In September 2011, We participated in a charity event organized by Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

South Africa

In November 2011, We donated daily necessities and toys to a children's home.

In August 2011, We visited children's homes and donated gifts on the UN International Youth Day.

Singapore

In November 2011, We donated the proceeds from a rummage sale at a children's charity event.

Vietnam

In December 2011, We visited various schools and donated supplies to them.

In July 2011, We donated shoes and clothing to a civil defense group.

Hong Kong

Certificate of Appreciation from a Charitable Organization

MOL (Asia) Ltd. was honored by St. James' Settlement, a charitable organization in Hong Kong, with a certificate of appreciation for its many social contribution activities over the years, as the organization marked its 60th anniversary.

Vietnam

Various Employee-led Social Contribution Activities

Since 2006, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. has conducted a variety of social contribution activities. Recently, the company visited orphans and elderly people in facilities for the homeless with donations of daily commodities.

Cambodia

Donation of School Supplies and Support for Orphans

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. donated school supplies through a support NPO that enables orphaned children to continue school.

Thailand

Relief Efforts in Flooded Areas

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Thailand) Co., Ltd. provided monetary contributions in response to major flooding in October 2010. The company also used its own automotive vehicles to transport material assistance which the employees helped distribute.

Indonesia

Relief Efforts in Areas Affected by Volcanic Eruption

When Mount Merapi erupted on the island of Java, P.T. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Indonesia provided monetary contributions and employee donations to assist those affected, while employees traveled to the affected area to distribute material assistance by hand to those in need.

India

Visiting Children's Homes

Employees at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (India) Pvt. Ltd. visited children's homes in Mumbai to donate toys, clothes, school supplies and other items.

Kenya

Courses on International Customs Clearance and Trading Rules

MOL Group company Japan Express Co., Ltd. dispatched an executive to a project conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to lecture on compliance and rules in international trade to customs agents in five east African nations.

South Africa

Christmas Party at a Children's Home

Employees at MOL South Africa (Pty) Ltd. held a Christmas party at a children's home in Capetown.

U.S.

Volunteer Participation in Post- Earthquake Relief Efforts in Haiti

Employees at MOL (America) Inc. took part as volunteers in the creation of dried food by the Salvation Army for those affected by the major earthquake in Haiti.
