Philippine Vessel Manning Company Marks 10th Anniversary

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that Magsaysay-Mitsui O.S.K. Marine, Inc., MOL's core manning company, yesterday celebrated the 10th anniversary of its foundation in Manila, Philippine.

One of the MOL Group's Corporate Principles is to protect the environment by maintaining strict standards for safe navigation and operation. In keeping with that principle, MOL operates manning companies and training centers all over the world, to help recruit, train, and develop high-quality seafarers for the company' operated vessels.

The ceremony attracted about 400 people including administration officials from the Japanese and Philippine governments, and others involved in Philippine seafarer policies. MOL President Ashida was on hand, expressing his thanks for the cooperation of everyone involved in the training of Filipino mariners and highlighting importance of skillful Philippine seafarers' roles in the Group operation.

*Magsaysay-Mitsui O.S.K. Marine, Inc. was established as a joint venture between MOL and its Philippine partner Magsaysay Maritime Corporation in March 1997. It has assigned over 20,000 Philippine seafarers to MOL operated vessels.
