Major U.S. Retailer, Burlington Coat Factory

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that Burlington Coat Factory, a major U.S. retailer of apparel and family furniture which operates more than 390 stores nationwide (Headquarters: Burlington, NJ), has selected MOL Consolidation Service Ltd. (Headquarters: Hong Kong) as their logistics partner and consolidator/forwarder in whole Asia region including China, Vietnam, India and Pakistan as a mean to streamline their import logistics from origins to their final distribution centers in U.S.

Burlington Coat Factory implements this program in support of its plan to expand their number of stores in U.S. MOL Consolidation Service Ltd. has been selected for its ability in cargo management with a strong management team, superior IT tracking and EDI services by "STARLINK*" as well as various support of value-added services such as origin cargo inspection, barcode labeling, scanning, etc.

"MCS" - MOL's buyers' consolidation moves to the 2nd stage

MOL has been strategically promoting its buyers' consolidation service to support customers' supply chain management (SCM). Buyers' consolidation is a logistics service used by retailers mainly in Europe and US, who buy products manufactured in several plants, mainly in Asia. MOL Consolidation Service Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of MOL and plays a key role for this service since 2003.

MOL regards this year as the time of transition from the beginning stage (1st stage) to the growing stage (2nd stage) of their buyers’ consolidation, and decides to promote "MCS" as their new global brand name from this year.
