MOL Implements Safety Campaign

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced the launch of a Safety Campaign targeting MOL-owned vessels, chartered vessels, and MOL Group vessels including ferries and cruise ships.

One of the key features of the campaign is to promote the exchange of opinions about measures to reinforce safety management based on lessons from serious marine incidents that occurred in 2006, and to express the company's gratitude for crew members' cooperation and hard work to maintain safe and efficient operation. It also aims to thoroughly disseminate information about measures to further enhance the safety of vessel operation.

This year's Safety Campaign takes place from October 1 to November 28.

MOL officers and staff from concerned business sections visit target vessels to boost awareness of safe operation. They facilitate frank discussions between seafarers and shore staff to deepen mutual understanding of efforts to reinforce the MOL Group's safety management structure formulated in December 2006 and interview crew members about specific practices to ensure safe operation. The campaign is intended to enhance operational safety by sharing information identified during the campaign, including both potential dangers and best practices, throughout all MOL sections.
