New Port Calls on TNWA Transatlantic Service

MOL restructured the Transatlantic (U.S. East Coast-Europe) route in December. The New World Alliance (TNWA) carriers including MOL have been exchanging space with Maersk Line on the Atlantic Pacific Express (APX), Atlantic South (ATS), and Atlantic North (ATN) services. In response to the suspension of Maersk Line's ATN service in December 2009, TNWA carriers added port calls at Antwerp and Le Havre on their APX service. This will rationalize the transatlantic route and boost the efficiency and quality of service.

♦Rotation
(Ports in Asia*) — Manzanillo — Miami — Jacksonville — Savannah — Charleston — New York — Antwerp — Felixstowe — Bremerhaven — Rotterdam — Le Havre — New York — Norfolk — Charleston — Manzanillo — Los Angeles — Oakland — (Ports in Asia)
*The above rotation was changed after the press release was issued.

*This service links Asia—North America—Europe—North America—Asia, and is offered as the "CNY" service between Asia and North America. The restructuring does not affect port calls in Asia.

♦Changes on ATS service
The restructuring will also lead to changes in ATS service, which will continue with the cooperation of Maersk Line, APL, and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM).

MOL continues to serve European ports on the ATS route with the APX service.

TNWA, GA Announce Transpacific Service Changes
On December 2, The New World Alliance (TNWA) and the Grand Alliance (GA) started joint operation of the New York Express (NYX), using nine vessels — six from TNWA and three from the GA. APL, HMM, and MOL each withdrew one ship from the service. The changes will reduce trade capacity by around 4,000 TEU.

NYX port coverage has been beefed up with the addition of calls at Yokohama and Shekou. NYX remains a key link in TNWA's service between Asia and the U.S. East Coast via the Panama Canal as well as the Atlantic Pacific Express (APX).
