MOL Upgrades India-Pakistan Container Service
 

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced an upgrade of the Karachi Express Service (KEX) for Pakistan. This is a part of MOL's ongoing effort to improve inbound, outbound, and intra-Asian container services in this rapidly growing region.

KEX service is offered through joint operation of three 850 TEU containerships (MOL operates two) with Singapore-based Samdera Shipping Line.

Singapore (Fri/Sat) - Karachi (Sun/Mon) - Pipavav (India) (Tue/Wed) - Colombo (Sat/Sat) - Singapore (Fri/Sat)

To Karachi Singapore - Karachi 8 days
Tokyo - Karachi (connecting at Singapore) 19 days
Nagoya - Karachi (connecting at Singapore) 18 days
Kobe - Karachi (connecting at Singapore) 17 days
From Pipavav Pipavav - Singapore 9 days

The container terminal at Karachi will be changed to the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), which offers greater convenience.
The upgraded service from Singapore to Karachi maintains the fastest transit time with a direct route. In particular, the Japan-Karachi service will be the fastest and most reliable in the market thanks to connections with MOL's unique Japan/Straits service.
With new calls at the port of Pipavav, a suburb of Mumbai on India's west coast, inbound and outbound service for India will be improved.

MOL's India/Pakistan services
The company is proactively upgrading container transport services for these areas where
demand for transport is rising due to increased trade volume. Services in addition to KEX are as follows:

For India:
MOL offers four weekly services from Singapore to Nhava Sheva, ensuring timely connections to and from Asia. Links to MOL's unique Japan/Straits service provide the fastest service in the market.
