This ship is dedicated to the transport of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Natural gas is liquefied into LNG at -162oC and reduced in volume to about 1/600. LNG carriers embodying the forefront of advanced technology for the transport of cryogenic cargo make possible mass seaborne transportation of this cargo item. Incidentally, one LNG carrier can carry a quantity equivalent to one month's consumption of utility gas by one million families.
