TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that it is co-sponsoring and exhibiting at a special exhibition called "The Ocean: The Origin of Life" at the National Museum of Nature and Science from July 15- October 9. The exhibition focuses not only on the origin of the oceans and the past relationship between the oceans and humans, but also on people's future coexistence with the oceans. In the "Blessings from the Sea" (Note 1) exhibit in Chapter 3, on the theme "Ocean Shipping Sustains People's Lives," MOL introduced the history of marine transport and displays several ship models with explanations of each ship type. In a photo spot set up for commemorative photos, it provides mariners' uniforms and caps for adults and children alike, so visitors can pose for souvenir photos dressed as captains or chief engineers. Furthermore, MOL Group original merchandise is also at the exhibition's gift shop. The exhibit is an ideal summer vacation activity for children and families.

The MOL Group hopes to raise awareness of the shipping industry, the starting point of its business, by making people aware of the ocean and vessels that have been with humans throughout their long history, and through the exhibition, the group hopes to encourage visitors to think together about the future of ocean shipping, and to use the exhibition as a driving force for efforts to create a prosperous future from the blue ocean.
