MOL Charitable Trust selected 2nd year projects for funding
The MOL Charitable Trust (the "Trust") (Note 1) held a ceremony in Mahebourg on Sunday, January 15, 2023, to announce the 20 projects selected for support from the Fund among those submitted in the second call for applications. The Fund also exchanged Memorandums of Understanding with each organization (Note 2). Among those in attendance were Mr. Shuichiro Kawaguchi, the Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius and Mr. Junichiro Ikeda, the Chairman of the Board of MOL who expressed his hopes for the success of each project and his gratitude to everyone involved.
The second call for applications drew more than 100 submissions, the same as the previous call, and the Trust's Enforcers Committee once again conducted a careful selection process. On Thursday, December 1, 2022, an Enforcers Committee meeting was held at the MOL head office in Tokyo, attended by Mr. Toshiaki Tanaka, the Executive Vice President of the Board of MOL who also serves on the Trust's Enforcers Committee. Twenty projects in the fields of environmental protection, agriculture, and local community support were selected.
The Trust will provide up to 1 million Mauritian rupees per grantee project per year, and the Trust's local Enforcers Committee will provide regular support for the operation and management of the projects. MOL will report on the activities of each project from time to time in the Trust's newsletter and on this website.
MOL will continue to support the restoration and protection of the natural environment and the growth of local communities in Mauritius through the Trust.
