MOL Charitable Trust Participates in the Completion Ceremony for Skill Development Program by NGO
In June 2025, Kolektif Rivier Nwar (KRN) (Note 1), a local NGO funded by the MOL Charitable Trust (the Trust) (Note 2), held a graduation ceremony for participants in development program, "Sea Skills". MOL (Mauritius) Ltd. Managing Director Yasuo Suzuki, who also serves as Chairperson of the Trust's Enforcers Committee, was on hand for the event.
The "Sea Skills" training program, organized by KRN with support from the Trust and many local companies and organizations, helps residents obtain work in a maritime occupation. It provides classroom lectures on navigation, maritime rules, onboard safety, and understanding of weather conditions, as well as practical training at sea, first aid, and sea rescue training for locally unemployed youth. After completing the program, participants took the skipper license exam administered by the Tourism Authority in Mauritius, and approximately 60 of them obtained their licenses. The program also included support sessions for participants who did not pass the exam, helping them prepare for a successful retake.
Many license holders commented that this was a valuable opportunity to consider their career plans, such as finding employment with local tourist boat operators, engaging in fishing, or considering entrepreneurship.
MOL will continue to contribute to the development of the maritime industry by nurturing the next generation of human resources development.
