MOL Charitable Trust:Graduation Ceremony for Women's Empowerment Program
On Friday, June 20, a graduation ceremony was held to celebrate 50 women who successfully completed a Women's Empowerment Programme delivered by the NGO Revey Twa Fam (Note 1) with grant funding from the MOL Charitable Trust (the Trust) (Note 2) under the Third Call for Proposal 2023-24 (CFP3). The graduation ceremony was held at the National Women Development Centre with guest of honour Mrs Vandanah Jodhoa, Head of the Gender Unit at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare.
The program led by Revey Twa Fam in collaboration with JA Mascareignes (Note 3) aims to empower vulnerable women facing unemployment, food insecurity, or social exclusion. The women received life skills and vocational training, including housekeeping, budgeting, basic hospitality, and personal development. This was followed by a two-week work placement in local businesses and hotels, equipping participants with practical experience to strengthen their employability and confidence.
A number of graduates have subsequently secured job offers in the hotel industry, while others have launched small businesses, highlighting the program's impact in addressing unemployment, financial independence and social exclusion among vulnerable women in Mauritius.
MOL will continue to support women's empowerment and contribute to community development in Mauritius through the Trust's collaboration with local NGOs.
(Note 1) Revey Twa Fam is a Mauritius-based NGO that supports vulnerable women by providing skills training, internships, and entrepreneurship opportunities to promote self-sufficiency and resilience.
