Expo 2025: MOL Chairman Ikeda Participates in Mauritius National Day as Honorary Consul

On July 14, the Mauritius National Day was held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and MOL Chairman Junichiro Ikeda attended the ceremony in his capacity as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Mauritius in Tokyo (Note 1). The delegation of the Republic of Mauritius was led by Hon. Dhananjay Ramful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade. Hon. Ramful spoke about the shared values between Mauritius and Japan, notably on the commitment to global peace, security and development. The event featured a performance by artists, showcasing the diversity of Mauritian culture.

Mauritius is participating under the Expo 2025 sub-theme "Empowering Lives". The marine ecosystem and activities of an Ocean State are prominently featured in its Pavilion. Visitors have been overwhelmingly appreciative of the Virtual Reality (VR) experience available at the Mauritius Pavilion, situated in the Commons A building of Expo 2025. It allows to discover the natural beauty and culture of Mauritius as well as its commitment to sustainable development. The Pavilion also features a living coral ecosystem aquarium provided by MOL (Note 2), inspired by the marine ecosystem of Mauritius.

MOL will continue to nurture friendly relations with the Republic of Mauritius while maintaining its commitment to contributing to the country and its people.
