MOL's business portfolio is strategically balanced, allowing for sustainable growth. While keeping our eyes to risk management, we aggressively invest in growing areas, aiming to become "the world's largest, highest-quality, unique ocean transportation group company with a full range of services."

We operate the world's largest fleet of dry bulkers, including iron ore and coking coal carriers, general cargo carriers, wood chip carriers, steaming coal carriers, and heavy lifters. In fiscal year 2009 and beyond, we continue to offer a wide variety of vessels to meet an ever-changing economic and business climate, and shifting demands. We also strive to ensure strong, sustainable earnings growth by reaching an optimum balance of mid- and long-term contracts and spot contracts.

Our tanker fleet is one of the world's largest. Centered on very large crude oil carriers (VLCCs), it also includes product tankers, chemical tankers, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers. "We will promote and protect our environment by maintaining strict, safe operation and navigation standards," one of MOL Group Corporate Principles, the company has taken the initiative to adopt double-hulled structure to tankers, and completed its adoption to 100% of all MOL-operated tankers as of December 31, 2008. MOL, as an expert of energy transport backed by full line-up fleet and safe navigation, is expanding its business activities in global scale.

MOL works aggressively to build its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, taking advantage of decades of experience as the world's No.1 LNG transporter and building on trusting relationships with its business partners. Our LNG carriers serve not only Japan, but also South Korea, Taiwan, the U.S., India, and other major consuming countries around the globe.

Our car carrier segment offers higher quality and more competitive services with wealth of automobile transport experience and knowledge accumulated over the years. 22 of world's most advanced car carriers are scheduled to join MOL's fleet in FY2009-2010 to meet diversifying customers demand.

Containerships carry an incredible range of cargo, such as finished products, parts, foods, and general consumer products. Importance of this segment has been increasing, spurred by the advancement of the global division of labour and the rising world population. Our world-wide transport network covers east-west routes, south-north routes, and intra-Asia routes, contributing to the world economy. To further enhance service quality and efficiency on east-west routes, we formed The New World Alliance(TNWA) with Hyundai Merchant Marine and APL.

MOL does not simply market existing logistics facilities. We combine the MOL Group's global network and IT system, and our Group companies' accumulated logistics technologies and know how, and truly understand customer needs and continually expand our logistics business by offering optimum solutions and a broad range of service menus to satisfy their needs. In today's ever-changing business environment, we try to provide the most responsive customer service, and are always on the lookout for future tie-ups with partners.

MOL's ferry and domestic transport network links major consumer markets and industrial zones nationwide. We are strengthening our business base while strategically boosting group-wide power and competitiveness by proactive consolidation and restructuring of group companies. Thus, our Group plays an important role in Japan's domestic logistics. Amid growing concern about the environment, the Group also cotributes to environmental protection in respect of both people and cargo movements, by promoting the modal shift and providing an environmentaly superb transportation method with its confortable and graceful onboard service.

MOL is expanding its associated business, mainly in the ocean shipping-related fields such as tug boats, cruise ships, and sale of ship supplies. In real estate, another core business, we made Daibiru Corporation a consolidated subsidiary in 2004. Daibiru Corporation contributes stable profits that enhance the MOL Group's overall performance.

This category covers mainly administrative divisions such as ship management, finance, and so on.
