MOL (China) Opens Chengdu Representative
Office
TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President:
Akimitsu Ashida) today announced the opening
of the Chengdu Representative Office of MOL
(China) Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shanghai),
MOL's wholly owned subsidiary. It will start
operations on July 1, promoting MOL services
to customers, gathering information, and
conducting public relations activities.
MOL (China) has aggressively promoted
expansion
and reinforcement of its independent
network
in China, as part of a three-year China
strategy
plan launched in 2003.
Chengdu, an inland city in southwestern China,
is the capital of Sichuan Province, and has
a population of about 11 million people.
Major industries include motorcycle manufacturing
and chemical products. Its gross annual product
has shown significant increase every year.
In addition, Chengdu serves as a logistics
hub for gateway ports such as Shenzhen, Shanghai,
and Qingdao. MOL (China) expects Chengdu
to play an important role in the future expansion
of trade in China.
The new Chengdu Representative Office will
allow MOL (China) to fine-tune its services
to more effectively meet customer needs,
while preparing for future expansion in China's
rapidly expanding inland market.
With the opening of the Chengdu Representative
Office, MOL (China) has 24 branches
and offices
in China, and continues to aggressively
enhance
its sales network and improve customer
service.
