Tanker
This is a specialized carrier of crude oil. Its cargo space is divided into a number of compartments. To meet the need for efficient mass transport, 200,000 dwt or larger tankers known as VLCCs (very large crude carriers) constitute the mainstream of the tanker fleet. To minimize crude oil spills and the resultant marine pollution, the broadsides and the bottom are double-hulled.
