MOL Wheelchair Rugby Player Kae Kurahashi Changes Teams; Company to Provide Volunteer Support to Her New Team, AXE

November 02, 2021

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced an agreement on its efforts to promote the sport of wheelchair rugby through volunteer activities and so on to support the team AXE. MOL employee and wheelchair rugby competitor Kae Kurahashi transferred to AXE from BLITZ in April of this year. As venue volunteers, MOL employees participated in the Japan Wheelchair Rugby Championship Qualifying League in Saitama on Saturday, October 30.

AXE, active since 2007, is the fourth wheelchair rugby team based in the Kanto region, and Kurahashi officially joined the team and began playing in October.

Various wheelchair rugby matches have been held with restrictions such as no spectators since last year in spread of COVID-19 infection. But restrictions are likely to be gradually lifted, so MOL will support the sport through volunteer activities.
