Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto; Minato-ku, Tokyo) and Sanwa Dock Co., Ltd. (President: Shuta Teranishi; Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture) today announced that the first six technical interns recruited and hired in cooperation MM Empower Corp. MOL, which has abundant experience and know-how in recruiting and training foreign seafarers, has been developing competent personnel with experience in engine maintenance, a critical skill for Sanwa Dock. Sanwa Dock has been accepting Vietnamese technical interns for about 15 years, and the company will continue to diversify its front-line human resources by welcoming new Filipino trainees this time.

Six trainees hired in the Philippines in February spent about five months at a local facility to study Japanese language and culture, and arrived in Japan in August. They also completed a month of Japanese language training in Japan before starting work at Sanwa Dock on September 1. At Sanwa Dock, they will be engaged in finishing work in the engine department and will learn Japanese skills and techniques. MOL, which is active in the global human resources consulting business, and Sanwa Dock, which specializes in ship repair and retrofitting under the philosophy "Safe navigation at sea (kairo heian)," will work together to connect workers and companies across borders and contribute to the sustainable development of the entire maritime industry.

(Note 1) Global human resources (HR) consulting company "MM Empower Corp.".
A foreign human resources consulting firm established in the Philippines in collaboration with Magsaysay People Resources Corporation, Inc., a recruitment agency of the Magsaysay Group, MOL's long-time partner in seafarer training.
