TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that from August 6-8, it held "MOL Family Day" (Note 1) as part of the "BLUE ACTION for ALL Campaign" (Note 2), with about 550 MOL Group employees and their family members and loved ones participating over the three days. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the MOL Group's business and work environment through workplace tours, including the Safety Operation Supporting Center (SOSC), which provides 24/7 support for vessels from land, lunch at the employee cafeteria, a "Quiz Adventure," and an online career experience event (Note 3). Participants also had opportunities to interact with their supervisors and coworkers, strengthening bonds among employees.
At the real-life wheelchair rugby experience, MOL invited players and staff from the wheelchair rugby team "AXE" (Note 4), for which MOL employee Kae Kurahashi (Note 5) plays. Event participants even got to try out competition-grade wheelchairs and experience contact with the players, creating a lively atmosphere at the venue. Wheelchair rugby is "a sport in which players with varying degrees of disability compete on the same court, combining their individual strengths in their respective roles to enhance the team's overall strength." It is truly a sport that embodies diversity. This event helped convey the appeal of wheelchair rugby, as well as the power of diversity and teamwork, to more and more employees and their loved ones, leading to increased vitality within the MOL Group in the future.
The MOL Group promotes initiatives on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) that connect to the growth of the group by creating an environment where diverse people can maximize their individual abilities, respect each other, and work with a sense of fulfillment. Through concerted group-wide efforts, MOL group will continue to engage in social contribution activities such as "next-generation human capital development," and create an environment where all of the group's diverse employees who gather at the group can bring out the best of their abilities and create new value with a sense of fulfillment in their work.
(Note 1) This event is being held following 2024. In 2019, MOL held a parent-child workplace tour event called "MOL Challenge Day."
