MOL (Europe) B.V. to Establish Its Subsidiary in Italy

May 29, 2007

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that its European subsidiary MOL (Europe) B.V. has established a subsidiary in Italy, with operations beginning on June 1.

Profile

Name: MOL Italia s.r.l
Location: Genoa (head office), Milan
Start of operation: June 1, 2007
Business: Shipping agency services
Service coverage: All of Italy
Representative: Frederic Malevialle (Managing Director)
No. of employees: 30

MOL has expanded into a wide variety of ocean shipping businesses with Prosper Agenzia Maritima s.r.l. as its sole agency in Italy for many years. The establishment of MOL Italia is a response to strong growth in Asia-Mediterranean Sea trade. With a branch office in Italy, MOL will be much better positioned to respond to customer needs, improve service quality, and offer our full network coverage.

As a sole agency, MOL Italia s.r.l. will have two offices in Genoa (head office) and Milan and expand service in local communities, under the control of MOL (Europe) B.V., which is based in Rotterdam. At the same time, it aims to expand the MOL Group global network and build business through competitive services.

The new agency will retain Prosper employees, who bring decades of experience and know-how, ensuring a smooth operational transfer from the old agency to the new.

Currently, MOL offers three regular weekly container services between Italy and Asia, and a weekly service between South Africa and Italy, via rail connections to Rotterdam.
