TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that its India group company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (India) Pvt. Ltd. (MOL India) has established four branch offices in southern and eastern India, with operations beginning on June 1.

MOL India was launched as a wholly owned subsidiary of MOL (Asia) Ltd. (Hong Kong) in March, 2002 and started operation with its Head Office in Mumbai and a branch office in New Delhi. In 2006, MOL India opened a second branch office in Ahmedabad.

MOL India now deems it necessary to expand the scope and role of its branch office network to continue its expansion strategy in southern and eastern India, which is experiencing tremendous economic growth.

MOL India has expanded into a wide variety of ocean shipping businesses in southern and eastern India through International Clearing and Shipping Agency (ICSA) as its sole agency for many years. The new agency will retain ICSA employees, who bring decades of experience and know-how, ensuring a smooth operational transfer from the old agency to the new.

With these branch offices opening, MOL India has seven offices in total (one Head Office and six branch offices) and more than 150 employees. MOL India will be much better positioned to respond to customer needs, improve service quality, and offer full network coverage in all of India, under the supervision of MOL (Asia) Ltd, which oversees MOL's container business in the Asian region.
