MOL Receives IR Prime Business Award from JIRA

November 12, 2008

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that the company has received the 2008 IR Prime Business Award from the Japan Investor Relations Association (JIRA).

The IR Corporate Excellence Award started in 1996 and is presented to companies that make outstanding efforts on IR. This year, MOL was one of six companies selected for IR Prime Business Award from 332 entries. This is the fourth time MOL has been honored, following 2001, 2004, and 2005.

JIRA cited the following in selecting MOL:

  • Top Management takes the initiative in IR involvement. Executives in charge of IR and the IR department take a proactive stance, and set up many opportunities for discussion with investors.
  • MOL offers abundant information on segments and financial plans in which investors show a high level of interest.
  • MOL offers research materials in clear, easy-to-understand ways, and using a wide variety of media, to provide a deeper understanding of the entire industry.
  • MOL has full range of IR tools such as a Web site and annual report.

In 2005, MOL was honored with the IR Prime Business Award Grand Prix, given to companies that have received the Prime Business Award three times. MOL was not eligible for the Prime Business Award for two years after that, according to the award regulations. This year, in its first eligibility since 2005, the company has been honored again.

MOL continues its efforts to enrich IR activities and ensure an appropriate evaluation by investors and the financial community.
