MOL Announces Changes to Asia-US East Coast Service

November 25, 2008

Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul, 25 November 2008 - The New World Alliance (TNWA) carriers - Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), APL, and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) - today announced a revised Asia-US East Coast service, which will include the Grand Alliance (GA) lines - Hapag-Lloyd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL).

From 3rd December 2008, the GA carriers will join TNWA's "NYX (New York Express)" service.

The NYX service will move from an eight to nine ship loop, with TNWA and GA providing five and four ships, respectively.

The revised NYX service will make an additional westbound call at Los Angeles and an eastbound stop at Shekou. The revised port rotation is Shanghai, Shekou, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, (Panama Canal), Manzanillo, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Manzanillo, (Panama Canal), Balboa, Los Angeles, Pusan, and Shanghai.

The revised NYX service will continue to be complemented by TNWA's other Asia-US East Coast via the Panama Canal services - the ESX service and the APX (CNY) service.

The service changes have been made to adjust capacity to significantly lower demand, while ensuring customers' transportation needs continue to be met.

On USWC services, TNWA carriers have already taken an action in mid-October for winter rationalization, which is to temporally combine the PS3 service and the PCX service, and suspend the PSW service.
