MOL Safety Conference 2009 Held

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that the company held the MOL Safety Conference 2009 in Mumbai (India) and Manila (Philippines), major sources of MOL Group seafarers.

The conference has been held every year since 2007 with the primary objective of explaining and enhancing MOL Group safety measures and promoting the exchange of ideas and opinions. In this third year of the conference, a total of 180 participated, including about 60 on February 20 in Mumbai and 120 on February 25 in Manila.

The conference started with an enthusiastic video message by President Ashida, who said, "Our management policy, which places the highest priority on safe operation, will never change in the least even though the world economy has been changing rapidly."
Then, Executive Vice President Hidehiro Harada and MOL executives responsible for overall control of safe operation, and participating seafarers actively exchanged opinions, and all of them expressed a new resolve to promote safe operation.

The MOL Safety Conference is scheduled for Zagreb, Croatia, in early March.

All MOL, MOL Group management and employees work closely to continually execute and verify the effectiveness of safety measures. Utilizing the results of this conference, MOL will continue to address safe operation and environmental protection as its highest priority and most vital corporate responsibility.
