TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Koichi Muto) today confirmed that the MOL-operated containership MOL MOTIVATOR collided with Zhong Xing 2 while underway within Chinese territorial water southeast of Hong Kong on May 5, 2014 at around 02:22 a.m. Local Time (18:22 May 4, UTC)
The damage of MOL MOTIVATOR was very minor, and is capable of sailing under its own power. It was on its way from Hong Kong to Yantian, China.
According to the authority of Hong Kong, the other vessel, Zhong Xing 2, sank and one crew member was rescued while the other members are still missing.
The cause of this accident is under investigation by the Authorities.
