MOL Transports Canned Bread 'Kyu-Can-Cho' to South Africa
- Bringing smiles to children in famine-stricken regions -

April 18, 2018

Children smile while receiving "Kyu-Can-Cho" canned bread

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda) today announced that it provided ocean transport of canned bread, "Kyu-Can-Cho", to South Africa with no charge, as part of the "Kyu-Can-Cho Project" (*) arranged by Pan Akimoto Co., Ltd. in cooperation with Hokuetsu Corporation.

MOL has provided transport service for this project since 2015, and has transported four shipments in all, totaling about 5,000 cases (about 75,000 cans).

MOL takes a proactive stance in social contribution activities that are unique to an ocean transport company with a global network.

(*) "Kyu-Can-Cho" Project
Pan Akimoto Co., Ltd. collects unused canned bread emergency rations "Kyu-Can-Cho," which the company produces and sells, before the "best before" expiration date, and transports them to famine-stricken areas.
