Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) and MOL Sunflower Ltd. (President: Hirotoshi Ushioku, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) have supported the free shipment of 67 used sewing machines, repaired by students at Oita National College of Technology (Oita KOSEN), to four facilities in the Philippines.

Oita KOSEN students collect and repair used sewing machines to support women facing economic hardship, enabling them to earn a living through sewing. The repaired machines are donated to countries in Southeast Asia as part of ongoing activities. This shipment is one example of those activities.
MOL pursues "BLUE ACTION MOL," striving to balance corporate growth with a sustainable society, and has incorporated "for ALL," its intention to pursue social contribution activities, into these words, setting the MOL Group's social contribution activities as "BLUE ACTION for ALL." This project falls under the focus areas of "Next-generation Human Resources Development" and "Addressing Local Community Challenges.
MOL will continue to leverage its global transport network to actively address challenges in communities where it operates.
(Note 1) Since 2003, the "Treadle Sewing Machine Volunteer Club" at Oita KOSEN has led efforts to collect and repair old sewing machines no longer needed in households, donating them to countries such as Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. To date, approximately 483 machines have been donated. In December 2020, the club received the 55th "Award for Distinguished Service in Social Contribution."
