MOL Decided to Donate to WOTA in Support of Areas Affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake

TOKYO—Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) today announced that it has decided to donate to WOTA Corp. (CEO: Yosuke Maeda, Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo), in which MOL's wholly owned corporate venture capital (CVC) arm MOL PLUS Co., Ltd. (CEO: Takuya Sakamoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) has invested (Note 1). The donation will support WOTA's initiative to deploy WOTA BOX and WOSH in areas affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake (Note 2). It represents an additional support measure following MOL's recent JPY 10 million donation (Note 3).

A Portable Water-Regeneration System "WOTA BOX"
A Water-Regenerating Handwashing Stand "WOSH"

WOTA BOX is a portable water regeneration system for use in areas where there is no water supply. It recycles more than 98% of wastewater to enable reuse, so that water can be used safely and securely anytime, anywhere. By connecting the WOTA BOX to the portable outdoor shower kit, which can be set up in about 15 minutes, people can take hot shower baths in privacy, even in evacuation centers and disaster sites where normal water supplies have been cut off.

WOSH is a water-regenerating handwashing stand that recirculates up to 98% of the water used on-site and can be installed even where there is no running water. With just 20 liters of water, it enables up to approximately 500 handwashes.

MOL Group prays that everyone affected by this disaster can return to their normal lives as soon as possible. The group will continue to support the victims in various ways and contribute to the reconstruction of the affected areas.
