MOL to Display Coral Reef Aquarium in Head Office Entrance
- A Place to Experience the Ecosystem of Coral Reefs in Mauritius -

July 28, 2022

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that on July 28, it will install an aquarium on the first floor of its Head Office that allows visitors to experience ecosystem of coral reefs in the Republic of Mauritius.

MOL has conducted natural environmental recovery of Mauritius including the conservation/protection of coral reefs and contribute to communities in the island nation since July 2020, when the ship chartered by MOL grounded offshore, resulting in a serious oil spill. Through these initiatives, MOL has discovered anew the richness and beauty of the sea in Mauritius and strives to build awareness of its environment in Japan. This led to the company's decision to install the aquarium.

Innoqua, Inc. (Innoqua; CEO: Yota Takakura; Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) designed the aquarium, which replicates a coral reef eco system, allowing visitors to experience the rich sea life of Mauritius. Using IoT and AI technology, Innoqua developed a system of managing and nurturing an aquatic ecosystem including coral reefs. The aquarium not only contains fish and coral native to Mauritius, but also includes equipment that adopts Innoqua's technology to breed baby coral. MOL plans to hold a marine environmental workshop showcasing this aquarium and related equipment.

MOL acknowledges the role it plays in the protection of the marine environment and biodiversity as a company whose business depends on the world's oceans and continues corporate citizenship activities that build public awareness of the richness and importance of the seas.
