- Supporting Seafarers All over the World -

May 22, 2023

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that it co-sponsored the Adventure Race Japan (ARJ) held on the Izu Peninsula from May 18-21. The event was organized by Mission to Seafarers (MtS) (Note), a seafarers' support group, and two teams of MOL employees participated in the race. The race site on the Izu Peninsula is designated as a UNESCO Geopark. The event included two days of competition on a 27km-course with elevation differences in the terrain, with each team of three competing for the best time and successful completion of the challenging race. Funds raised at the event will benefit MtS's seafarer support activities.

Six MOL employees who love trail running were divided into two teams and competed in the event, in appreciation of the seafarers who continue to sustain the main artery of international logistics even while the COVID-19 pandemic that lasted more than three years forced them to stay at sea for extended periods of time, and in hopes of improving the working environment for seafarers around the world. The company also called on MOL Group employees to make donations, and provided $30,000 to co-sponsor for the event.

The MOL Group aims to coexist in harmony with everyone involved in its business, and contributes to the realization of a sustainable society with a sincere approach to corporate citizenship.
