June 12, 2023

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that following its endorsement of the "GX League Basic Concept" (Note) developed by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), it participated in the GX League, which will be fully operational within the current fiscal year.

METI established the GX League as a forum for cooperation between a group of companies and the government, universities, and academic institutions in order to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets and increase industrial competitiveness by using Japan's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 as an opportunity for economic growth, social reforms and develop new markets.

MOL has positioned environmental strategy as a key element in its "BLUE ACTION 2035" management plan, and formulated the "MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.2" as a roadmap for achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 and sustainable development of people, society, and the Earth.

Through participation in the GX League, the MOL Group will contribute to the achievement of decarbonization and the realization of a sustainable society, not only for the group but also for society as a whole.
