TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that MOL and Seaspan Energy Ltd. LNG bunkering in English Bay, Vancouver

This was the first LNG bunkering for the Japanese Shipping Company to bunker at Western North America, and was the first case to bunker LNG-fueled Car Carrier in Western North America. LNG was supplied by Seaspan Garibaldi, an LNG bunkering vessel operated by Seaspan Energy, to Lake Herman, MOL-operated LNG-fueled Car Carrier moored in English Bay on a Ship-To-Ship basis.

MOL is actively promoting the spread of environmentally friendly LNG fuel and actively supporting the expansion of LNG fuel supply bases at major ports and regions around the world.
MOL targets to archive net-zero by 2050 in line with "MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.2" and continues promoting the strategy of introducing clean alternative fuels to achieve decarbonization and low carbon.

Harly Penner, President, Seaspan Energy said:
"We are proud to share in this milestone with MOL as Lake Herman is the first car carrier to be fueled by a Ship-to-Ship LNG bunkering in Western North America. We appreciate the trust from its customer and look forward to a long-lasting relationship."

Yoshikazu Urushitani, General Manager, Marine Fuel GX Division said:
"Until now, there was no LNG fuel supply base in Western North America, and the deployment of LNG-fueled vessels was limited. We are very pleased that we have succeeded in the first LNG bunkering for a car carrier in Western North America in collaboration with Seaspan Energy, which will expand the range of areas where we can deploy environmentally friendly LNG-fueled vessels and provide customers with more options for expanding their clean supply chains. We will continue to conduct LNG bunkering based on the Ship-to-Ship basis to LNG-fuels vessels at other ports in Western North America."
