TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that it participated in Adventure Race Japan 2025, a charity event organized by Mission to Seafarers (MtS), a seafarers' support organization, held in the Izu Peninsula from May 15-18. MOL also served as the only platinum sponsor for the event. MtS is one of the world's largest seafarers' support organizations, based in more than 200 ports in 50 countries around the world. The organization provides a range of assistance programs, including mental health support, to all seafarers regardless of nationality or religion. Money raised from the event will help fund MtS seafarer support activities, with a total of $78,200 donated by MOL and its employees.
The race was held over 2days on a course around Izu-Shuzenji, A total of 100 teams (3people per team) from around the world competed for the fastest time. On the first day, 8employees participated as water supply volunteers, and MOL President & CEO Takeshi Hashimoto not only served as a presenter at the awards ceremony on the final day, but he also walked the course with the other participants to enliven the event. 4teams of 12 employees from MOL, consisting of both land-based employees and seafarers, participated in the Black Dragon Race, a 20km course, and came in first place overall.
The MOL Group will continue its efforts to promote the welfare of seafarers who work to support the main artery of international logistics while facing various risks day in and day out.
