TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that its group company MOL Training Center (Phils.) Inc. (MOLTC(P); President: Teodorico De Guzman) now offers the largest number of training programs certified by DNV (Note 1), one of the world's leading certification bodies helping businesses assurance.
This is due to our LNG Carrier Standard Training Course recognized as compliant with the latest model course (Note 2) set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO; Headquarters: London), and receiving certification as the first maritime training institution in the Philippines to achieve this. MOLTC(P), as a standalone training center, has become a company with the highest number of DNV-certified training programs in the world totaling six(Note 3), same with our base in India, MOL Maritime (India) Pvt. Ltd.
On June 3, MOLTC(P) celebrated its 20th anniversary of establishment and introduced its cutting-edge engine simulator and newly introduced LNG/chemical cargo handling simulator, which complies with the latest SIRE (Note 4) requirements (IMO 1.36 Model Course) and meets the competency standards required for seafarers aboard LNG carriers as stipulated by SIGTTO (Note 5), leading to this latest certification. MOL will support the ever-expanding LNG carrier business by continuing to strengthen its seafarer training infrastructure.

(Note 1) DNV, based in Norway, is the world's largest classification society, evaluating the safety and environmental performance of ships and offshore structures and certifying maritime training programs. Certification allows the company to demonstrate compliance with international standards for training quality and safety in providing the necessary skills and knowledge to participants in the training program.
(Note 2) The IMO 1.36 model course corresponds to the model course that was developed based on proposals from IMO Member States following the adoption of the STCW Convention 1978. This course is specifically designed for training on LNG cargo handling and ballast operation.

A ship inspection and reporting program operated by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF). The program is designed to assess the safety, quality, and environmental standards of tankers and other vessels.

SIGTTO reviews the safety assurance of the entire LNG and LPG business, from production and transport to consumption, and has established international standards for LNG carrier crew training.
