Memorial Ceremony Held at the Kashimanada Coast

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto), today announced that it held a memorial ceremony at Nikkawahama Beach, Kashimanada Coast (Ibaraki Prefecture) on October 9, the ceremony was attended by 177 executives and employees of the MOL Group.

On October 6, 2006, the VLOC GIANT STEP ran aground and sank off Kashima, resulting in the tragic loss and missing 10 crew members. This initiative aims to preserve the lessons learned from the tragic accident and to foster a safety culture that draws on past experiences to prevent future incidents.

This initiative is positioned as one of 'Safety Action 1.0,' Reform safety awareness through mutual enlightenment" which aims to realize the "MOL Group Safety Vision" and as part of the "BLUE ACTION for ALL Campaign", in which the entire group works together to conduct various social contribution activities.
