Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) is proud to announce its support for the Museo Del Galeón, the Philippines'(Note) first immersive maritime museum, located in Pasay City, Manila. As a gold donor, MOL reaffirms its commitment to celebrating the country's rich maritime heritage and its vital role in global trade.

At a ceremonial signing held last Friday, 7 November, Mr. Toshinobu Shinoda, Executive Vice President and Executive Officer of MOL, formalized the company's donation and received a token of appreciation from Ms. Doris Magsaysay Ho, President of Museo del Galeón.
The event was also graced by Museo del Galeón Board of Trustees Member Mr. Gerardo Borromeo and special guest Ms. Christina Manzano, along with Senior Managing Executive Officer of MOL Captain Mitsuhisa Tanimoto, Chief Country Representative of MOL Philippines Mr. Yasunori Takamatsu, and Captain Masaya Itano Director of Magsaysay MOL Marine Inc.

The Museo Del Galeón is set to become a landmark institution, showcasing the Philippines' historical and contemporary contributions to maritime global commerce. Through interactive exhibits and educational programs, the museum will honor the legacy of Filipino seafarers and the nation's enduring connection to the sea.
Set to open in 2026, Museo del Galeón will highlight the Philippines' pivotal role in maritime history-from precolonial seafaring traditions and the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade to the global impact of today's Filipino seafarers. Spanning 9,000 square meters and anchored by an explorable, full-scale representation of a 17th-century galleon, the museum will feature cutting-edge interactive exhibits that honor the nation's enduring connection to the sea.
"The Philippines plays an undeniably significant role in global trade," said Mr. Toshinobu Shinoda, Executive Vice President and Executive Officer of MOL. "At MOL, Filipino seafarers make up approximately 60% of our crew for our operating vessels. Our presence in the Philippines spans nearly a century, and we are honored to contribute to the maritime industry and the country through this initiative. MOL remains deeply committed to strengthening our partnership with the Philippine society."
MOL's operations in the Philippines include various shipping and logistics services, crewing and training of Filipino seafarers including a dedicated seafaring school, reflecting its long-standing investment in the country's maritime future.
Museo del Galeón and MOL look forward to inspiring new generations to appreciate the country's seafaring legacy and its central role in shaping global exchange.
