The event encouraged participants to think about creating workplaces that transform diversity, including gender, into a strength by sharing each company's initiatives and role models related to the promotion of women's empowerment and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I). The event was open to employees of both MOL and Daio Paper, as well as their group companies. In all, about 110 participants joined the event in person and online.
The event began with a message from UN Women Japan Director Naoe Yakiya, who spoke about the importance of International Women's Day.
Next came a "DE&I Top Session" featuring keynote presentations from Daio Paper by Hiroshi Yamazaki, Representative Director and Executive Vice President, and Noriyo Tanabe, Executive Officer and Head of Diversity Promotion Department, Human Resources Division.
Representing MOL were Sanae Sonoda, Executive Officer and Chief Communications Officer, and Natsuko Kobayashi, General Manager of Human Capital Strategy Division. In line with the theme of International Women's Day, they shared messages on the advancement of women in the workplace, drawing from their own career experiences and perspectives on female empowerment.
Part 2 of the event began with a "DE&I Leaders Session," in which two senior female executives at both companies took the stage for a panel discussion centered on career development. The final program in Part 3 featured a dialogue session where participants split into small groups to exchange views on promoting women's advancement and DE&I.
For both companies, which are aiming to build organizations where diverse talent can thrive for the next generation, this event provided a valuable opportunity to engage beyond company and industry boundaries, reflecting on gender equality, diversity, and ultimately their own careers.
