MMMA's Cumulative Women Cadet Enrollment Surpasses 100, Reaching a Record Since Its Founding
- MMMA Continues to Attract and Develop the Next Generation of Women Maritime Professionals -

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) today announced that MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA), a merchant maritime academy jointly operated by MOL and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC Note 1) in Manila, the Philippines, has welcomed 208 cadets: Deck 103/Engine 105 (Women Deck 17/ Engine 14) for Academic Year 2026. The academy recorded its highest-ever number of newly enrolled women cadets, bringing the cumulative number of women cadets admitted to MMMA since its establishment to more than 100. This milestone reflects MMMA's continued commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in maritime education and providing opportunities for talented young people regardless of gender in a field that has traditionally been male-dominated.

The proportion of women among newly enrolled cadets has steadily increased over the years, and the number of women cadets has grown to around five times that of the inaugural class, demonstrating the effectiveness of MMMA's efforts to encourage more women to engage in maritime careers and expand opportunities for them in the maritime industry.

The achievement also comes at a time when the global maritime industry continues to face a shortage of qualified seafarers, highlighting the importance of broadening access to maritime professions and developing a more diverse talent pipeline. As part of its commitment to developing the next generation of maritime professionals, MOL has set a target of increasing the ratio of woman cadets to 35% by 2035 in line with the Group's diversity commitments. MMMA serves as one of the Group's key platforms for nurturing future seafarers and supporting greater participation of women in the maritime industry.

Equipped with advanced training facilities and practical education programs, MMMA provides cadets with the knowledge, skills, and international perspective required to succeed in the global maritime industry. By developing highly skilled seafarers from diverse backgrounds, MMMA supports MOL Group's long-term strategy to secure sustainable and resilient maritime resources.
