Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) today announced that MOL participated as a Gold Partner in the Maritime SheEO Conference 2026, an international event held in Mumbai, India, on October 22, 2026, to promote the advancement of women and diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) in the maritime industry. Gold Partners are sponsoring organizations that play key roles in the conference, including delivering keynote speeches.
In addition, MOL received the "Seafarer Workplace Diversity Award" from Maritime SheEO, the organizer of the conference. The award recognizes MOL's efforts to promote diversity and inclusion within the seafaring community and to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace environment for seafarers.

This year marked the seventh Maritime SheEO Conference. The event brought together more than 500 participants from 20 countries. The event brought together a record 55 men and women from across the MOL Group, including seafarers, cadets, DE&I representatives from manning and ship management companies, and MOL's dedicated Welfare Officer (Note 1). Stakeholders from across the maritime industry gathered to engage in lively discussions on promoting DE&I on board and fostering workplace environments where all seafarers can perform to their full potential.
Speakers included MOL Associate Executive Officer Captain Animesh Hore, Captain Naomi Matsushita (Note 2), the first woman to serve as a captain for a Japanese shipping company, and two seafarers and representatives from MOL's in-house manning companies. Through their respective experiences and perspectives, they shared insights into women's advancement and leadership in the shipping industry and underscored the importance of creating workplace environments where everyone can reach their full potential. At the workshop hosted by MOL, experienced seafarers from our company served as mentors, alongside guest speakers who are women leaders from the maritime industry. They answered questions from cadets and engaged in networking with a wide range of participants.

On October 23, the day after the conference, MOL hosted "All On Board! 2026 – MOL DE&I Conference: Shaping an Inclusive Future for Seafarers". The conference featured a video message from Captain Masao Sasaki, Managing Executive Officer of the Headquarters of Safety & Quality Enhancement, as well as a session led by a dedicated Welfare Officer assigned under "OceanCare" (Note 3), a well-being support program for seafarers. Seafarers, cadets, and other personnel of the MOL Group shared their experiences and challenges related to DE&I, promoting dialogue and deepening mutual understanding among participants.

MOL views DE&I as a new driver of growth and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all seafarers can work with confidence and reach their full potential. As part of this commitment, MOL has set a goal of increasing the proportion of women cadets to 35% by 2035 and is actively promoting women's participation in the maritime sector.
Moving forward, through its OceanCare well-being support program for seafarers and various initiatives to promote DE&I on board, MOL will continue to foster a workplace environment where diverse seafarers respect one another and can contribute their unique strengths.
