February 12, 2010

TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that it held MOL Safety Conference 2010 in Mumbai and Manila.

MOL has hosted the conference every year since 2007 to explain and upgrade MOL Group safety programs and encourage a free and open exchange of information, ideas, and viewpoints.

2010 marked the fourth year of the conference. 70 officers who were on leave took part in the event on February 9 in Mumbai and 120 participated on February 11 in Manila.

The event opened with an enthusiastic video message from MOL President Akimitsu Ashida, who said, "Even though the world economy still remains in a severe condition, our management policy, which places the highest priority on safe operation, will never change. I hope all of our seafarers will further brace themselves in order that MOL is regarded as the world leader in safe operation."

The following presentations were made by Senior Managing Executive Officer Koichi Muto (also General Manager of the Safety Operations Headquarters) and other MOL executives. They held an open, active discussion with seafarers, and everyone reassured the importance of safe vessel operations.

The MOL Safety Conference is also scheduled for Zadar, Croatia, on March 12.
