MOL Launches New Services for Asia and Australia Network

November 07, 2016

Tokyo, November 7, 2016 - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL, President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda) today announced the launch of new services between Asia and Australia, effective May 2017(*).

The new Asia-Australia Express is a pendulum service which will connect Northeast Asia to Australia and Southeast Asia to Australia. The new service will be jointly operated by MOL and Maersk Line (ML). MOL will operate three ships and ML will operate nine ships. It will serve as a replacement for the existing AU2 and AAB/AAT services. The first sailings will be commenced in May 2017.

The new China-Taiwan-Australia Express (CAE service), connecting China, Taiwan and Australia, will be jointly operated by Hamburg Sud, ML and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The CAE service will serve as a replacement of the existing AU1 service. The new service will commence sailings in May 2017.

In addition, MOL's existing NZ1 and NZ2 services will also be enhanced by adding Brisbane port of calls in NZ1 service and Sydney port of calls in NZ2 service.

With the launch of new services, MOL will continue to provide customers with an enhanced product, including faster transit time and wider connectivity with MOL's existing network over the key transshipment ports and more direct port coverage in Asia and Australia.
