TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) participated in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland from January 20-24 (commonly known as the "Davos Meeting") as the only Japanese shipping company to take part in the meeting.
The delegation from MOL, which participated in the meeting for the fourth time, attended sessions and served as panelists with government officials from around the world to discuss global affairs and in cross-industry discussions on fuel conversion.
On January 21, MOL President & CEO Hashimoto served as a panelist, representing a Japanese company developing global business, in the Davos official session "Japan Navigates Uncertainty" with Ryosei Akazawa, Japanese Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy, Busi Mabuza, Chairperson of the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, and Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro. They discussed social issues facing Japan and Japan's position in the world. Hashimoto expressed his view about the outlook for the future amidst heightened geopolitical tensions, saying, "Trade patterns may change, but trade volumes will not decrease," and stating that "We will continue to diversify our portfolios."

On January 20, MOL Chief Sustainability Officer Tatsuro Watanabe spoke at the "Carbon Removal Guides for Sustainability leaders" hosted by the NextGen CDR Facility and explained the significance of working on CDR (removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere) in the shipping industry and as a Japanese company.
On January 23, MOL Executive Officer Suryan Wirya-Simunovic spoke at the "The Course Towards 2050 for the Shipping Industry" session hosted by DP World and discussed decarbonization in international shipping. He explained the company's initiatives and outlook for the future.
The MOL Group has positioned environmental strategy as a key element of its "BLUE ACTION 2035" management plan, and set the target of achieving net zero GHG emissions by 2050 in the "MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.2." As a pioneering integrated shipping company, the group is committed to achieving net zero GHG emissions by introducing clean alternative fuels and pursuing the spread and promotion of negative emissions.
