February 09, 2026
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), has been awarded with the Encouragement Award at the Business Analyst Awards 2025, for its initiative on the Visualization, Digitization and Standardization of Voyage Operational processes through the application of digital technology and business analysis methodologies. Hosted by the International Institute of Business Analysis's Japan Chapter (IIBA; Representative Director: Ichiro Terashima, Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Note 1), the acceptance speech was delivered at the award ceremony held on February 4th, 2026.
The awards aim to recognize outstanding initiatives that have leveraged business analysis expertise to meaningfully contribute to their organizations. As of present, they are the sole platform within Japan to evaluate and recognize the application of business analysis (BA) and the key personnel who drive these initiatives forward, such as Business Analysts and Business Architects.
The Encouragement Award recognized this initiative as a highly interesting case wherein BA methodologies and tools were used in tandem to standardize and integrate processes on an international level. Particularly noteworthy, was the application of Process Management Tools, for which publicly documented use cases remain scarce in Japan, encouraging significant potential for future expansion.
