TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura) announces that MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy, Inc. (hereinafter "MMMA")(Note 1), a maritime academy operated by MOL in the Republic of the Philippines, conducted a community outreach activity on April 25, 2026, as part of the country's National Service Training Program (NSTP)(Note 2). As part of this initiative, cadets visited a public elementary school located in a northern rural area of the Philippines and engaged in social contribution activities.
For this activity, ten MMMA cadets visited Banawen Elementary School (Note 3), a school situated in an area where access is considered challenging, and delivered hygiene education lectures focusing on proper handwashing and oral health. In addition, daily necessities and food supplies were distributed to approximately 90 households in the local community.

This initiative marks the first time for MMMA cadets to directly visit such a community, engage with local children and residents, and provide hands-on support by traveling to the site themselves-an experience that goes beyond conventional on-campus activities.
Through this program, cadets learned not only the technical knowledge and skills required of future seafarers and maritime professionals, but also the importance of empathy, social responsibility, and leadership through direct interaction with the local community. These experiences align closely with MMMA's educational philosophy, which emphasizes the holistic development of cadets as individuals, in addition to professional competency.

MOL and MMMA will continue to promote sustainable social contribution activities as members of the communities in which they operate, going beyond their roles as educational institutions, with the aim of achieving both human resource development and long-term community development.
(Note 1) MMMA is an educational institution jointly established by MOL and its partner, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, a Philippine seafarer manning company.
(Note 2) The National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a mandatory program for university students in the Philippines, aimed at fostering civic consciousness and social responsibility through community service activities. At MMMA, cadets have continuously engaged in student-led social contribution initiatives, including coastal cleanups.
(Note 3) Due to detours required during the rainy season, travel from MMMA to the site took approximately nine hours each way.
