Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura; Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "MOL") sponsored the 2026 High School Student Summit to Regenerate the Nature of the Beach (Note 1), held in Yokosuka City and organized by the Association for Shore Environment Creation. This marks the third consecutive year that MOL has sponsored the summit.
The summit provides a forum for high school students from across Japan who are engaged in a wide range of coastal nature restoration activities to present the outcomes of their work, learn from one another, deepen their understanding, and receive advice from experts. This year, 18 high schools from across the country participated.

Tidal flats and seaweed and seagrass beds provide spawning and nursery grounds for many species of fish and shellfish, thereby supporting biodiversity. By purifying seawater and absorbing carbon dioxide, they also play an important role in conserving healthy marine environments and mitigating climate change.
The participating high school students were deeply committed to addressing the challenges facing their local coasts and presented highly specialized research findings and unique initiatives. Their presentations demonstrated the flexible thinking unique to high school students and a clear ability to take action and shape the future --- incorporating advanced technologies such as drones and AI, building wider circles of support through social media, and expanding their activities through collaboration with local companies and other schools.
The MOL Group will continue to support the endeavors and growth of younger generations who are confronting challenges affecting the oceans and natural environment across Japan and taking action to build a better future.
(Note 1) The High School Student Summit to Regenerate the Nature of the Beach was originally part of the National Seagrass Summit, which was held annually from 2008 through 2023 as a forum for exchanging views on restoring eelgrass beds and restoring and conserving marine ecosystems. Since 2024, the High School Student Summit has been held as a standalone event. This year marked its 14th edition.

"BLUE ACTION MOL" is the collective term for the MOL Group's sustainability initiatives, which pursue both corporate growth and the realization of a sustainable society. By adding "for ALL" to express the Group's shared commitment to advancing social contribution activities for the global environment and all living things, the MOL Group has designated its social contribution activities as "BLUE ACTION for ALL" and promotes initiatives based on its priority areas.
