MOL GroupSafety Vision

Leading in Safety

Through the steadfast pursuit of safe operations, the MOL Group remains committed to protecting human life, assets, and the natural environment-an endeavor that underpins the value we deliver to society and our stakeholders.
The safeguarding of all individuals involved in our operations, alongside the prevention of environmental pollution, constitutes a fundamental imperative for ensuring business continuity.
As a corporate group engaged in social infrastructure services, the assurance of safety in service provision forms the very foundation of our operations and serves as a core source of our competitive advantage.
Leveraging the expertise we have cultivated over time, we strive to create new value and evolve into a robust and resilient corporate group with a strong global presence.

In April 2026, in conjunction with the formulation of Phase 2 of our corporate management plan, BLUE ACTION 2035, we updated the MOL Group Safety Vision, which sets out the Group's fundamental approach to Safety. The Vision applies not only to the Company's directors and employees but also to non-employee personnel across the Group, including chartered seafarers, and was approved by the Board of Directors in February 2026.

Overall View

Establishment of Safety Vision

In Phase 2 of the "BLUE ACTION 2035" management plan, we have identified key sustainability issues (materiality) in the areas of "Environment," "Safety," "Human Capital," and "Digital Transformation (DX)," positioning them as core initiatives to reinforce our management foundation.

The Safety Vision was formulated to clearly communicate the Group's safety goals and desired future state across all maritime and shore-based business activities to internal and external stakeholders, and to provide a shared direction for all officers and employees across the Group.

"Leading in Safety" embodies our commitment to driving forward safety levels across all industries by having each company within the MOL Group strive to ensure the world's highest level of safety and quality in their respective business fields. Moreover, it signifies how our executives and employees will actively lead on safety issues, rather than adopting a passive stance.

Safety Vision: Framework and Key KPIs

The Safety Vision is structured with a "roof" representing our desired future state and guiding pillars that embody what we aim to become. Beneath this, the "foundation" outlines the specific safety actions designed to bring this vision to life.
Through the execution of safety actions, we will continuously realize the "What We Want to Be" of the Safety Vision and thereby contribute to the achievement of the Group Vision.

KPI

To achieve the "What We Want to Be" set forth in the Safety Vision, we have established Safety Goal and Safety Metrics.
Safety Goal

  • Zero fatal accidents
  • Zero serious accidents

Safety Metrics

  • Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF)
  • Vessel downtime rate

By achieving and continuously maintaining Safety Goal, we aim to realize the "What We Want to Be."In addition, by monitoring the Safety Metrics, we evaluate the effectiveness of our Safety Actions and enhance their impact by updating and revising them in response to changes in the internal and external environment.

What Do We Mean by 'Safety'

A "safe state" does not refer to outcomes such as "success" or "failure," but rather to "a condition in which anticipated risks are being managed throughout the process."
Since all actions and measures inherently involve some degree of risk, achieving zero risk is impossible.
To maintain a safe state, risks must be mitigated to an acceptable level through effective risk management.
In the event of an incident, crisis management measures must be taken to prevent secondary damage. Once the immediate crisis is under control, the focus must return to risk management to reestablish and maintain the safe state.

Action Plan

Overview of Safety Actions

What We Want to Be for safety is to protect human life, assets, and the natural environment through the steadfast pursuit of safe operations, thereby underpinning the value we deliver to society and our stakeholders. By breaking down the company's components-people (*1), work, and organization—we translate our vision of "what we want to be" into tangible conditions required for daily operations.
We define initiatives to make ourselves what we want to be as "safety measures" and efforts to promote group-wide measures as "safety infrastructure" (collectively, Safety Action ).

(*1) people:All individuals involved in work or operations under the organization's management, including officers, employees, and non-employee personnel such as chartered seafarers.

Roadmap

Phase 1: Focused on implementing and rolling out action plans to strengthen the safety foundation across the group.
Phase 2: Continuously update our safety actions in response to changes in the internal and external environment, as well as insights gained from monitoring safety metrics.
