TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that on June 19 it presented a guest lecture to a class on "Business Strategies for Sustainability" in the Master's Program in Global Environmental Studies at Sophia University Graduate School, taught by Professor Masachika Suzuki.
The Graduate School aims to "synthesize knowledge from the social and natural sciences and link theory and practice toward the solution of global environmental problems." About 25 undergraduate and graduate students, mostly international students, attended MOL's guest lecture centering on developing global human resources to address global environmental issues toward the realization of United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The lecture, delivered by an MOL employee, introduced MOL Initiatives in the Republic of Mauritius (Note 1), followed by a presentation on the "MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.2" (Note 2), and a summary of measures to address environmental issues, and finally a question-and-answer session with students, including local opinions from a representative of MOL (Mauritius) Ltd. Comments from students after the lecture included, "I learned a lot from MOL's initiatives to address environmental issues," "I found the mechanism of the Wind Challenger interesting," and "I now understand the diverse efforts being made in Mauritius."
MOL will continue its efforts to communicate the work of the shipping industry, environmental issues, and the group's commitment to local communities to future generations.
