MOL Organized Grand Opening Party
for New Training Center in Vladivostok

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President; Akimitsu Ashida) announced the company organized the commemorative party for the opening of its new training center on April 14 in Vladivostok. This event marked the start of full-scale operations at the training center including the launch of a new diesel main engine remote control simulator.

The MOL Group Corporate Principles call for protecting and enhancing the environment by maintaining strict, safe operation and navigation standards. As part of this effort, MOL operates training centers around the world to recruit and train highly skilled seafarers.

The company opened the training center through a tie-up with Russia's Maritime State University (MSU) in Vladivostok, a key source of seagoing personnel for MOL's expanding fleet, on August 31, 2005. (Please refer to the press release for details on September 1, 2005.) The training center already provides a strong foundation in crew training with a wide range of facilities and equipment.

About 40 guests from the Japanese Consulate in Vladivostok, Japanese companies, Russian shipping and harbor/port related companies, Russian academic researchers and others attended the event. The company has received congratulations from officials including Japanese Consulate-General Masayoshi Kamohara, MSU Rector Vyacheslav I. Sedykh and the others.
On behalf of MOL, Counselor Noriaki Hori, former Chairman, thanked everyone who cooperated in opening the new center, emphasized the importance of education and training to meet continued growth in demand for Russian seafarers, and explained MOL's continued involvement.
