TOKYO, 9 Apr 2010 - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced a new all-water service to expedite cargo moving from major Asian ports to key destinations on the U.S. East Coast, via the Suez Canal.
From May 15, the "SVE" (South China/Vietnam - the US East Coast) service will be jointly operated by MOL and "K"LINE. MOL will provide two ships and "K"LINE seven ships, with the average capacity of approximately 5,500 TEU, replacing the existing service operated by "K"LINE.
The introduction of the new service will enable MOL to offer direct connections from Vietnam/South China/Singapore to the U.S. East Coast, including a call at Jacksonville and brand-new coverage to Halifax, with competitive transit times.
