TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda) today announced that it has provided ocean transport of relief supplies donated by the non-governmental organization "Asian Children's Dream(*)" to assist those affected by the earthquake in Nepal.
Nearly 9,000 people died in the April earthquake and more than six months later many of the survivors are still living in temporary evacuation shelters and facing a cold winter. They are in dire need of relief supplies to survive the winter.
MOL transported about 6,000 items such as warm clothing and blankets to four villages, located at 5,000 meters above sea level in the northeastern part of Kathmandu, Capital of Nepal.
MOL hopes people in the affected areas will return to normal life as soon as possible.
