Nippon Biofuel Co., Ltd.

"Peace Engineering"
To create an environment, "Peace", where everyone can trust tomorrow and can enjoy today full heartedly
Nippon Biofuel Co., Ltd. is committed to addressing three fundamental global challenges: climate change mitigation, poverty eradication, and the prevention of conflicts driven by energy insecurity.
For more than 20 years, primarily in Mozambique and the wider Sub-Saharan African region, we have supported improvements in farmers' livelihoods and the self-reliance of local economies. Building on this experience, we aim to simultaneously advance climate-resilient agricultural models and the creation of sustainable, community-driven energy systems.
By strengthening regional resilience and reducing dependence on external resources, we seek to address the root causes of climate change, poverty, and conflict in an integrated manner.
This project promotes large-scale cultivation of Jatropha in Mozambique through a combination of company-operated plantations and contract farming schemes, enabling the integrated production of biofuel and carbon credits.
By linking agricultural production, energy creation, and carbon reduction, the initiative aims to simultaneously stimulate local economies, conserve the environment, and contribute to global decarbonization efforts. Through this approach, we seek to establish an integrated regional circular model that combines sustainability with public value.
This project has been selected under the FY2024 Supplementary Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Program (Large-Scale Demonstration, Non-ASEAN Countries, Second Call). Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) is scheduled to participate as a cooperation partner.
